QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid chauffeur license.
- Skill in driving a school bus, as proven by passing a special perfomance test.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and school system policies and procedures.
- Ability to gain respect and cooperation of students, parents, administrative officials and others; to maintain discipline; to pass a required bus driver's course; to read and write.
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SUPERVISES: Bus Monitor
JOB OVERVIEW: Under close supervision, transport pupils, faculty and other school patrons between pick-up points and school, maintain order during trips and adhere to traffic safety rules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Drives bus to transport pupils between pick-up points and school, according to prescribed time schedules.
- Regulates heating and ventilating systems for passengers' comfort.
- Complies with traffic and safety regulations.
- Reports accidents or delays and completes required reports.
- Inspects bus for mechanical defects; checks gas, oil , and water before departing; cleans bus after trip.
- Maintains discipline when students are aboard bus; reports problems to supervisor.
- Enforces regulations against smoking or eating on bus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 168 days contract
WORK ENVIRONMENT: School bus setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires hearing, speaking, standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
SALARY RANGE: In accordance with the EPS Support Negotiated Contract Scale.
BENEFITS: In accordance with the EPS Support Negotiated Contract.
