QUALIFICATIONS

 

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of applied behavior analysis, behavioral principals and strategies.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete behavior-related assessments and behavior intervention plans.
• Experience working with students in alternative, at-risk or school settings required.
• Board Certified Behavior Analysis (BACA) certificate preferred.
• Willingness to earn BACA certificate required.

JOB OVERVIEW: Successful candidate will use his/her skills to assist teachers and students with the development and application of positive behavior and behavior modification supports. He/She will work with teachers and special services staff to develop strategies to strengthen academic and behavioral success for individual students and to improve the classroom environment for all involved. He/she will also provide professional development to certified and support staff who work with students with behavioral needs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

• Develop a district-wide system for behavior consultations.
• Design and oversee implementation of situationally appropriate crisis prevention and intervention plans, as well as constructive classroom management techniques.
• Observe students in need of behavior modification and model intervention strategies in the classroom to assist them.
• Help teachers better understand the individual needs of each student.
• Assist principals and teachers at all sites with behavior modification interventions.
• Provide ideas and support with the development and implementation of student behaviors plans.
• Help monitor progress of student behavior plan goals.
• Comply with all Individualized Education Plans, when applicable.
• Consult, collaborate and seek partnering agencies that currently provide behavioral supports to EPS students and families to provide a holistic and consistent approach.
• Be available to the classroom whenever a crisis situation occurs in order to provide emergency intervention.
• Annually train paraprofessional staff in behavioral modification strategies, as well as techniques for facilitating student independence and communication.
• Prepare and timely submit all required reports and evaluations.
• Conference with parents concerning specific behavioral situations involving their children.
• Regularly participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.
• Regularly conduct behavior-related professional development opportunities for support and certified staff.
• Serve as a resource to staff and parents on topics related to behavior and applied behavior analysis.
• Comply with all federal, state and local laws, and board policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  184-Day Contract- Support or Certified will be considered.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

 

• Sit or stand for long periods of time
• Speak, hear, see, stand and walk
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment
• Ability to drive a vehicle.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are primarily performed inside the classroom; however, monitoring of students in different areas of the school may be required as well. Local travel required.

 

EVALUATION: In accordance with Board Policy and appropriate procedural regulations. The Superintendent or designee will be responsible for completing the evaluation.

 

SALARY RANGE: Salary will align with the Oklahoma certified scale plus a stipend based on the candidate's credentials and experience plus a stipend for travel reimbursement.

 

BENEFITS: This position includes fully-funded health insurance for the employee that may be waived for additional salary, if preferred. Those holding an Oklahoma teaching certificate will also qualify for retirement through OTRS.
